"I feel like I'm a totally different skater than I was four years ago," said reigning national champion Ashley Wagner.

"I was a girl on the outside hoping my dream could maybe come true. Now I'm approaching it much more realistically. I have a plan. I've really matured and taken control of my skating, ownership of my sport. I feel like I'm a woman now, not just along for the ride."

Reigning national champion Max Aaron will be making some last-minute changes to his program by dropping from three quadruple jumps in his long program, to two.

Aaron struggled on the Grand Prix circuit this season, finishing out of the Grand Prix final.

"Every time I watch a performance, I'm disgusted with how I've skated," said Aaron according to SI.com. "It's very hurtful for me."

"Still to this day, I'm very embarrassed."

Reigning world dance champions Charlie White and Meryl Davis will hope to repeat their U.S. Figure Skating Championships experience by reclaiming their national title and proceeding to win an Olympic gold medal in ice dance.

The 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships will be held from January 5 to January 12.
