Lorde Tour 2014: ‘Royals’ Singer Doesn’t Want To Be Called A ‘Teen Hottie’ Following Her Announcement Of North America Tour

New Zealand pop teen sensation has announced her North American tour in 2014.

Despite her biggest 2013 hit 'Royals' the 17-year old pop star still doesn't want to be called a "teen hottie."

During her interview with New York Times via Skype, Lord made it clear that she is not a "teen hottie," saying: "The phrase 'teen hottie' literally makes me want to throw up."

Unlike former Disney Princess and pop star Miley Cyrus, Lorde is not playing any character to sell herself. She claims that she maintains full control over her packaging as an artist. She even revealed that she has turned down a hefty amount of money to maintain her true persona.

"I would like to think that my public persona comes naturally to me and isn't that dissimilar to my real way of doing things," she revealed. "I've turned down easily millions of dollars doing what I do and saying no to things that I think are corny."

The Grammy-nominated singer also claimed that her music is something her generation could relate to.

"I'm trying to make something people my age will care about, trying to keep my peers feeling like I'm doing something for them or representing them in some way."

Her "Royals" single is definitely a proof to this statement. She may not be presented as a typical pop star, but the singing sensation claims that she is a "pop princess at heart."

"Some people love writing about that, and that's fine," she said about love songs. "But I personally haven't found a way to do it yet which is innovative and feels new to me."

The Grammy-nominated pop star is up for four Grammy nominations. Her single "Royals" is nominated for the Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance, while her album entitled "Pure Heroine" is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.

You can see her perform the Billboard Topping single "Royals" and the rest of her singles as she kicks off her 15-North American tour in Austin Music Hall on March 3 and to be concluded in Fox Oakland, Calif, in March 26.
