Girl's Day Updates Their Sound and Style in 'Something' MV

Girl's Day gave fans "Something" really great to kick off the new year with!

On January 3 at noon KST the four member K-Pop girl group released their third official mini-album Everyday 3 and the music video for the title track "Something."

The new single sets the bar pretty darn high for the other girl groups planning on releasing new songs in the next several weeks.

Girl's Day made their comeback with a mature look and evolved sound, making "Something" the ideal follow-up to their last hit song "Female President" and a great way to start off 2014.

While the music video itself is far from original (it follows the pretty standard format; a handful of wardrobe changes, choreographed dance scene mixed with close ups of the individual members singing), the song is a phenomenal step forward for the Girl's Day.

With a chorus that is easily stuck in the listener's head and nods to R&B pop songs of the late 90s and early 2000s, "Something" provides Girl's Day with the perfect platform to showcase their often overlooked vocal talets.

Sojin, Minah, Yura, and Hyeri look elegant and sexy in long skirts a crop tops reminiscent of veteran singer Park Ji Yoon's "Coming of Age Ceremony" music video from 2000. The high slits come into play during the dance routine as the gals show off their long, toned legs during the video's sexy yet tasteful choreographed scenes.

The whole video screams sex appeal while remaining modest (a new trend for 2014?). In fact, the only thing that is not sexy about it is one particular dance move where the Girl's Day members sort of slowly bounce up and down with a look of pain on their faces.

Weird dance move aside, in "Something," Girl's Day updated their sound and style with their reinvented take on pop for the new millennium.
