Lee Seung Gi and Girls' Generation Yoona have officially confirmed that they are dating.

The news broke on January 1st when both parties confirmed to an online news site that they have begun to date.

This is the first time for both of them to officially announce a relationship. Both of them have been a role model of sorts in the industry in the way that they carried themselves in the music scene. They are both widely acknowledged as model citizens who are never in the center of a scandal. However, that's not the only thing that these two starlets have in common.

Both of them are attendees of Dongguk University. Lee Seung Gi graduated from Dongguk University with a degree in International Trade and Commerce, receiving a Special Achievement Award upon graduation. He has earned a Master's degree in Cultural Contents at the Dongguk's Graduate School of Digital Image & Contents. Yoona is currently attending Dongguk Univerysity as a Theater and Music major. Lee Seung Gi is her upperclassman.

Not only that, but the two have followed similar paths in that they began as singers and debuted as actors soon thereafter.

Lee Seung Gi won the Popular Choice Award at MBC's Drama Awards for his role in "Gu Family Book" and won the Best Drama Couple Award with Miss A's Suzy, his co-protagonist for the same drama.  He also won the Best Actor Award for the role.

Yoona won the Best Actress Award at KBS's Drama Awards for her role in "The Prime Minister and I" and won the Best Drama Couple Award with her co-protagonist Lee Bum Soo.
