Golden Globe 2014 Best Actor, Actress Predictions: Robert Redford Over Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett Over Kate Winslet?

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards is just a week away - who will win Best Actor and Best Actress for the 71st Golden Globe Awards? Check out our Golden Globe 2014 Best Actor and Best Actress predictions here!

The lead actor in a motion picture drama nominations include: Chiwetel Ejiofor, "12 Years a Slave"; Idris Elba, "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom"; Tom Hanks, "Captain Phillips"; Matthew McConaughey, "Dallas Buyers Club"; Robert Redford, "All Is Lost."

While all of these actors gave amazing performances, we predict that the award is really a competition between Robert Redford in "All Is Lost" and Idris Elba in "Long Walk to Freedom." The Los Angeles Times predicts that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will lean towards Robert Redford. The 77-year-old actor has never been nominated for a Golden Globe Award before, but gave him the best newcomer prize in 1966 and its Cecil B. DeMille award nearly three decades later. It would only seem appropriate for the seasoned actor to take away the award. Then again, many have been raving about Ejiofor's performance in "12 Years A Slave." Ejiofor has been nominated four previous times for television work, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The lead actress in a motion picture drama nominations include: Cate Blanchett, "Blue Jasmine"; Sandra Bullock, "Gravity"; Judi Dench, "Philomena"; Emma Thompson, "Saving Mr. Banks"; Kate Winslet, "Labor Day."

The Los Angeles Times predicts that Cate Blanchett will take the 2014 Golden Globe Award for best actress, and we agree! The two-time Globe winner seems "the year's most inevitable choice," the publication writes. However, it's possible that voters won't want to be too predictable, and will give the award to Kate Winslet in "Labor Day" or Sandra Bullock in "Gravity."
