2014 marks the largest delegation of Korean music to-date at SXSW (South by Southwest) one of the most buzzed festivals in the United States. It has recently been announced that HyunA (Cube Entertainment) and Jay Park will be showcasing in the Music stream of the festival.

Rounding out the delegation to 15 acts from South Korea, HyunA and Jay Park is likely representing K-pop at the "K-pop Night Out" event for the grand festival. Reputable acts such as YB, Nell, No Brain, Crying Nut and Galaxy Express will also be featuring. Finishing off the 15 representatives are musicians:
Big Phony, Glen Check,   Idiotape,   Jambinai,   Kiha & The Faces,   Rock N' Roll Radio, Hollow Jan and   Love X Stereo.

While Korean music acts, especially K-pop artists, are already permeating the US scene with individual shows year-round, SXSW is a place for those new to the genre, as well as enthusiasts of other genres to get to know the diverse Korean music scene.  Last year, f(x) featured as the headlining act for "K-pop Night Out".

SXSW is a gathering place for hippies, indies, and technophiles. Dubbed as the "World's Capital of Live Music", many top acts in music have roots tracing back to the festival. The event grows in significance yearly and is expected to attract crowds in the millions.

To showcase at SXSW involves a rigorous process, even with the thousands of stages happening simultaneously. Applications to showcase run up to the thousands and not all will be guaranteed a stage. Thus, having such a strong delegation of 15 artists is phenomenal. Congratulations to HyunA, Jay Park and the Korean delegation!

SXSW is still going through showcase applications and haven't finalized the showcasing acts, so it is highly likely the South Korean delegation can still grow.  The schedule of the showcases also have yet still to be announced, although the Music festival will happen between March 11th through 16th.
