Rapper Nelly Used To Walk Bradley Beal To School; Washington Wizards Sophomore Said He Needed The Rapper For Him ‘To Show Up To Games’

If songs like 'Dilemma' and 'Hot in Here' makes you feel old, here's another fact that will make you hold firmer to the saying "Age is just a number.'

An NBA player has claimed that rapper Nelly used to accompany whenever going to school.

Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards told Washington Post that long before he even reached high school, he used to have the platinum selling artist walking with him on the streets up to his school.

"I knew who we was, but I didn't know," Beal said of the now 39-year-old Nelly. "He used to walk me to school sometimes, when I was a little kid. He wasn't as big as he is now, but he was an up-and-coming rapper and eventually 'Country Grammar' came out" in 2000"

The sophomore out of Chaminade College Prep brought up this random fact after seeing Nelly during their 97-83 victory against the Charlotte Bobcats at the Tim Warner Cable Arena.

According to Michael Lee of the Washington Post, the Grammy Award winner used to be a star athlete at the same school Beal's mother worked for.

"Yeah, I needed him to be able to show up to games," Beal jokingly said when teased that his great game on that day was due to Nelly's presebce, "but nah, I just stayed with it. My teammates did a great job of setting me up. And I was shooting the ball with a lot of confidence and was fortunate to get a couple to fall."

This is the second time in one week that Beal made it to the news because of some 'fun' trivia about his life. Earlier, he made headlines after saying that he wore number 23 on his jersey before stepping onto the NBA floor to pay tribute to, guess who? Lebron James. Yes, James, not Michael Jordan.

"I never watched Michael Jordan growing up," said Beal, in a recent episode of Wizards Magazine. "I grew up, '23' was LeBron. I always knew about Michael Jordan, but I can't necessarily model myself after him. I always admired LeBron and the way he played all the time when he was in Cleveland."
