M.C the Max, IU, And Lyn Dominated The Winter Chart With Ballads

Winter is a season of romance, and the popular music resembles that sentiment. Despite big name such as Rain and TVXQ making their comebacks, the music chart is dominated by the top balladeers, IU, Lyn, and MC the Max.

MC the Max, IU and Lyn are dominating the charts without a single appearance on music programs, which is amazing in itself. The winter market of 2014 is dominated by these three names.

MC the Max released their 7th album after a hiatus of 7 years. Their album is named, Unveiling and their title song, "Wind That Blows", is taking over online music charts at the number one spot. Their other songs "We Back Then" and "White Night" is also in the top rankings. MC the Max's fans welcomed their comeback by loving their album.

Their previous mega-hits "Poem of Love", "Don't Be Happy", and "Love To Be Hurt" were all made hits during winter, so it's only obvious that their newest single is another instant winter classic. They vowed to not promote their albums after releasing it, which may be a slight disappointment to the fans who wanted to see them on TV. However, the fact that they came back and the fact that they are releasing more music for their fans may be gift enough to some.

IU is another big name in the winter music scene. Her previous hits, "Good Day" and "You and I", were both made hit songs in the winter. Her single "Friday" from her repackaged third album, Modern Times - Epilogue, swept the online charts. "Friday" also was the number one song of the week for all three major channels' (MBC, KBS, SBS) music programs.

This was done without a single promotional appearance or activity on IU's part, which is amazing. The acoustic driven song was written and composed by IU herself, which may have been the driving force for the fans' deep love of the song.

"You Who Came From the Stars" is the most popular drama series on TV for this season. Lyn's OST single, "My Destiny", accompanies the drama and has become the most popular OST single for the season. It is in the top of the charts and has placed number one multiple times since the song was introduced through the drama.

Lyn has become the "Queen of the drama OSTs". After singing the wildly popular single "Back in Time" for the equally popular MBC drama "Moon Embracing the Sun", Lyn hit it big again for another popular drama, "You Who Came From the Stars". Her OST single, "My Destiny" has cemented her spot as the top OST artist.

Winter is a season of romance and sentimentality, after all. It is no coincidence that the songs that perfectly capture the "winter sentiment" took the number one spots on the music charts.
