Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Spoiler: Series Will Take the Fifth and Nothing More; Real SPOILER: How Will It End? Real Life Nucky Lived Well Beyond Five Seasons

Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Spoiler:  My favorite series is coming to an end. HBO and Terence Winter confirmed that Boardwalk Empire will end after next season. They put a contract out on it. It's been whacked. Boardwalk Empire sleeps with the fish.

Before I get to the announcement let me give a few Boardwalk Empire Season 5 Spoilers and this is for real. Enoch Johnson, the real life historical treasurer in Atlantic City that Nucky Thompson is based on, lived well beyond the 1920s. He didn't die until the 1950s. Lucky Luciano lived until the sixties and Meyer Lanskey a decade past that. Al Capone died in the 40s, his mind ravaged by syphilis. But they all died of natural causes. Boardwalk Empire can't end like that.

Okay, now you got to read the rest of this Boardwalk Empire news before I get back to this.

HBO announced that it was shutting down production on the Prohibition-era Atlantic City series Boardwalk Empire after five years. HBO says it's not because of ratings. "Boardwalk Empire" didn't do as well in its fourth season, but still came in right behind HBO's "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood" in ratings.

Terence Winter, riding high after penning Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" said "After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we've decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion.  We're thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of Boardwalk Empire." Winter's been a long-time HBO collaborator before premiered Boardwalk Empire in 2010, he wrote for "The Sopranos."

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said "It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subscribers. Terry Winter has created one for the ages."

HBO announced "Game of Thrones" fourth season returns April 6 at 9 and "Veep" comes back for its third season that night at 10/9c. The new comedy by Mike Judge, "Silicon Valley" debuts at 10:30

When we las saw Boardwalk Eli's (Shea Whigham) got picked up by Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) after Nucky dumped him on Al Capone (Stephen Graham). Gillian (Gretchen Mol) is in jail. Dr. Narcisse (Jeffrey Wright) is yapping to  Edgar Hoover (Eric Ladin).

Okay, the last season of Boardwalk Empire will not take place in the next consecutive year, which would be 1925. Winter and the crew will have to bump it closer to the stock market crash, in 1929. Capone pulled in over a million a year after 1926 and it went up exponentially. Luciano will be a made man in the Mafia and Lanskey will be the brains behind a burgeoning empire that Lucky basically runs. There will be a mob war in NYC and Capone will be ducking pot shots almost weekly. Nucky Thompson will broker a huge meeting of all the mob forces. Several times.

Or HBO can take Nucky out of history and into full-blown fiction in which case. I don't know what I'm talking about.
