This year will be meaningful for idols looking to get into the film industry. SM Entertainment's BoA and f(x) Sulli will be starting a new chapter in their lives on the big screen. Both actresses have built up their resumes with television dramas, and they're moving onto pursuing movies with supporting roles in order to expand their experience as actresses.

The two actresses will be starring in more than one film this coming year. BoA will be making a cameo appearance in The Law of Pleasures, which is scheduled for release this month. She will be appearing in the film as the next door neighbor to the lead female role Miyeon (played by Moon So Ri).

"The Law of Pleasures" is a frank story about women in their 40s and sex. It features Um Jung Hwa, Jo Min Soo, and Moon So Ri. When considering the other cast members, it's difficult to imagine how BoA will appear in the film.

Following this movie, BoA will be making a full-scale appearance in Big Match, which is an action movie. The story describes a game designer who creates a game just for Korea's top 0.1%, and how he jumps into the game to save his older brother. The star cast includes Lee Jung Jae, Shin Ha Kyun, and Lee Sung Min. BoA will appear as a poker-faced mysterious woman named Sookyung and will be showcasing her charm as the only actress in the show.

Last year BoA proved her acting talent in KBS 2TV's "Hope for Love," which also won her an award at the 2013 KBS Drama Awards. She also finished filming for Hollywood movie COBU 3D, which hasn't been released yet.

Girl group f(x) member turned actress Sulli will be starring in 2 movies that will be releasing in the 2nd half of the year. Both works have been the center of attention since its time of planning.

The Pirates will be her big screen debut work. The movie has already been dubbed as the Korean version of "Pirates of the Caribbean," and is estimated to have a 10 billion Won (roughly 8.9 million US Dollars) production cost. The movie is set in the Chosun Dynasty, and is the story about a group of pirates and bandits who try to hunt down a ghost whale that has swallowed the Chosun Imperial Seal. Sulli will play a girl who was caught by Soma (Lee Kyung Young), who was known to capture young girls and sell them for profit. However she is saved by Yeo Weol (Son Ye Jin) and becomes a bandit in the footsteps of her savior.

Sulli commented on her first big screen debut, "At first it was a great burden. I wanted to do so well, but since I was filming with my great seniors, I was really nervous and shaking hard." She explained that she's doing her best filming for the film. History adventure is a great debut work for an actress.

The other movie that she is working on has a completely different feel to it, titled Fashion King. It's a story of a high school student that wants to get noticed by the prettiest female student in the class. In order to do so, he opens his eyes to the world of fashion and is then determined to become the most stylish guy in the world.

In the film, Sulli will play a girl named Eunjin who has a slight crush on the male lead. She wants to become prettier so that she can get noticed, too. She will be joined by Joo Won, Park Se Young, and other young actors.

BoA and Sulli have been building up their resumes with their acting roles. Fans are playing close attention to their upcoming works, especially more so because they are best known for their idol singer status in the music industry.
