SNL Spoilers: Sasheer Zamata comes to Saturday Night Live tonight. Sasheer Zamata has been coming at us live in New York for years before this Saturday night. Zamata has been a fixture in the city in the clubs, at the Uptight Citizens Brigade and on YouTube before she was cast as a Not Ready for Prime Time member on Saturday Night Live.
Most of the media has concentrated on how Sasheer Zamata is the first black woman cast on Saturday Night Live for years. But Sasheer Zamata is a veteran of skit comedy having honed her skills in front of live audiences at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Sasheer Zamata is a graduate of the University of Virginia. She trained at New York's Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Zamata is also the co-creator of the webseries "Pursuit of Sexiness."
Talking about Zamata, Chioke Nassor, a writer/director who is on the staff of "Late Night With Seth Meyers," said "I felt from the beginning, it was a no brainer," Chioke Nassor, a writer/director who is on the staff of "Late Night With Seth Meyers. It wouldn't make any sense if they didn't pick her. She's great with characters, she's a really great writer. She has an amazing improv background. She's really nice. She does impressions. .... They made an excellent decision. And she's a really big staple of the New York comedy scene."
Zamata also has a very active YouTube channel.
Zamata isn't the only new name on SNL. Saturday Night Live hired on two new writers, LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones, in addition to new cast member Sasheer.
Sasheer Zamata, Lekandra Tookes and Leslie Jones' first show will be broadcast live from New York on Saturday night, tonight, with host and musical guest Drake.
