Remaining KARA Members To Focus On Solo Activities For Now, New Album With 3 Members Planned For Late 2014

With the news that both Nicole and Jiyoung are officially departing from the group, many fans are concerned about what this means for the future of K-Pop girl group KARA.

Over the weekend, one representative from the group's agency, DSP Media, revealed what the company has in mind.

From five members, down to three - KARA's Nicole saw the end of her contract with DSP last week, but announced plans to end her connection to the group next month. A short while later the agency also confirmed that Jiyoung, whose contract expires in April, will also depart leaving Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara as the core of KARA from the spring onward.

Through a statement to Entertainment Relay, one rep from DSP revealed that solo activities will be the focus of the remaining members for the first half of the year, but that plans are in the works for a new album release in the latter half of 2014.

"They will probably focus on their individual activities during the first half of the year and return to fans in the latter half," explained the rep.

As far as expanding the group with the addition of new members in the future, it appears the company has not yet started exploring that option.

According to the same agency rep, "There has been nothing discussed on that matter."

Currently, Nicole is acting as a free agent member of the popular group until she leaves for the United States to focus on her studies. Jiyoung has not yet revealed what her future has in store, but fans can expect news on that matter as the end of her contract draws nearer.

Until then, the company asks fans to be patient and continue to support KARA and its members in the new phase of their careers, both as a part of the group and as individuals.
