Lee Min Woo Of Shinhwa On Why He Chose To Perform His New Single 'Taxi' Like A Drunk

Lee Min Woo has sung in a variety of styles during his nearly 16 years in Shinhwa, but probably not this one before.

In a press conference on Monday near the set of the music video for his new single "Taxi," Lee told reporters that he decided to mix things up on the track, choosing to intentionally sound intoxicated during his vocal performance.

"When I used to perform as a member of Shinhwa, the stage would be decorated with many fancy and cool things, but this time I wanted to try something new," the 34-year-old singer said, according to eNEWS.

"So I decided to perform and sing as if I'm drunk."

According to Lee, who also performs solo under the stage name "M," it was his extended time in the spotlight that gave him the courage to try something so professionally risky.

"Since it's been about fifteen years since Shinhwa's debut and ten years since my debut as a soloist, I feel like I have the confidence for a performance like this," he said.

"I've interacted [with fans] onstage for a long enough time, if I dare say, which makes this possible."

Lee's new album, which he produced and co-wrote, is scheduled for release on Feb. 6.

Entitled "M+10," the EP is a special release to commemorate Lee's 10 years as a solo artist.

The Shinhwa vocalist wrote the lyrics for "Taxi," which will reportedly be the leadoff single, from "M+10." The music was written by the production team Spirit.

"M+10" will be Lee's first solo release in almost five years. His last EP, "Minnovation," was released in June of 2009.

The last Lee Min Woo full-length solo album, "M Rising," was released in 2008.
