Review: Rainbow Blaxx Slow The Tempo Down And Heat Things Up On 'One Word' [AUDIO]

Considering most K-pop fans currently associate the group Rainbow Blaxx with their eyebrow raising new music video for the song "Cha Cha" featuring the four band members wearing lingerie and enticingly eating pastries, it is a logical step that they should attempt to get a bit sexier with their sound. Such is the case with "One Word," one of two other songs included on the groups most recent EP, "Rainbow Blaxx Special Album," released on Monday.

Rainbow Blaxx, a subunit of the seven-member girl group Rainbow, slows down the tempo R. Kelly style on "One Word" and makes some bone fide bedroom music.

There is a delicate art to making a jam that sets the right mood for romance.

Too dreamy and you fall asleep. Too fast and the mood might be killed completely.

And while Rainbow Blaxx is still setting the pace a bit fast for "One Word" to truly be considered a baby making jam, the intro is a pure love vibe. It's not hard to imagine the late great Barry White dropping a sultry monologue over it.

There are also musical similarities to slightly more recent masters of the smooth jam like Mary J. Blige, Amerie and the various projects of Kenneth Brian "Babyface" Edmonds.

Like a great 1990s R&B classic, "One Word" combines hip-hop beats with 1970s disco funk guitars and keyboards to create something exciting and new.

If there is one weakness in this new batch of releases by Rainbow Blaxx (including the third song "Silhouette") it is that the hooks are at times grating.

That is not the case at any point in "One Word." The sound is pure sexy bliss.
