One Direction's fans are saying some shocking things on Twitter this weekend: are Liam Payne and his girlfriend Sophia Smith really engaged? Did Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder break up? Or are the One Direction boys being plagued by Twitter rumors, in a ploy by fans to get more views for the "Midnight Memories" music video on Vevo?

According to Unreality TV, Twitter is exploding with Directioners (One Direction fans) spreading tweets that Liam Payne and his girlfriend Sophia Smith are engaged, Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder had a break up, and that Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner are no longer together.

But upon closer inspection, all of the shocking Twitter messages refer fans to a video of the alleged engagement/break up/split - but the video is actually One Direction's "Midnight Memories" music video on YouTube through their Vevo channel.

Unreality TV says the tweets are being shared by Directioners "desperate to break the Vevo record with the band's latest video."

For example, Twitter user @ayemaliik wrote: "GUYS WTF LIAM SAID HE IS ENGAGED TO SOPHIA HERE IS THE VIDEO I AM SHOCKED LIAM"

Attached to the tweet was a link to the "Midnight Memories" music video.

One Direction released the "Midnight Memories" music video on Friday, and while the band once held the record for the most Vevo views in a 24 hour period, the record was later snatched by Miley Cyrus.

It was a hard week to try to break records; even Vevo announced on their Twitter how competitive it was in the music industry: "It was a huge week w/ premieres from @onedirection @justinbieber @shakira & more! "

So far, "Midnight Memories" has almost 10.5 million views on YouTube.

So don't worry, 1D fans. Liam, Harry, and Louis are doing just fine with their girlfriends, and no one is engaged yet - except for Zayn!
