`Grease' Star Olivia Newton-John Will Spend `Summer Nights' In Sin City; Will She Get Mellow With Britney Spears?

"Grease" star Olivia Newton-John is headed to Sin City. No, she's not taking in the new Britney Spears show, Olivia Newton-John is doing her own. Olivia Newton-John  announced a headlining residency at the Donny and Marie Showroom at The Flamingo, starting April 8. Tuesday. She will perform 45 shows. Dates are scheduled through the summer. Olivia Newton John tickets went on sale yesterday. Seats start at $69.


Olivia Newton-John is following Britney Spears' lead and taking her show to Sin City. "Grease" star Olivia Newton-John is headed to Las Vegas. Olivia Newton-John announced her Las Vegas residency at The Flamingo Hotel And Casino on Tuesday. Olivia Newton-John will perform 45 shows at the Donny and Marie Showroom at The Flamingo. The 65-year-old singer will perform 45 shows starting April 8. Dates are scheduled through the summer.


Olivia Newton John is just the latest performer to head to the desert resort town. Britney Spears recently brought a new infusion to Las Vegas, opening the door to cooler and younger acts. Las Vegas is best known for its nostalgia acts, do brisk business. Boyz II Men, Shania Twain and Donny and Marie Osmond continue to fill large theaters.


Organizers say the show will feature Grease classics including "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "You're the One That I Want," as well as Newton-John's independent pop songs. The show will be called Summer Nights.


In a statement, Newton-John said "I am thrilled to be able to call Las Vegas home for a while. I have performed here many times through the years and have had nothing but wonderful memories and I look forward to even more fun at the Flamingo. I am especially thrilled that a portion of every ticket sold will benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre."


Newton-John told LA's Today show, "I'll do my songs from Grease to Xanadu and my country music and some of my new healing music material and some of my favorite oldies."


Olivia was supposed to start her Summer Nights show last summer, but had to delay it after sister Rona died from a brain tumor in May. Olivia told Entertainment Tonight: "There was a time where I didn't think I'd sing again, but time is a wonderful healer. It doesn't heal everything but singing for me is my way of healing and it always has been. Whenever I've gone through difficult times in my life music is what has helped me get through and [Rona] was always there for me, so I know, that I need to keep singing, she didn't want me to stop. . 'My beautiful sister Rona sadly passed on May 24th in Los Angeles. It was May 25th in Australia - which was our mother Irene's birthday,' Olivia, wrote on her Facebook page soon after the passing.
