Girls’ Generation member Seohyun was appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the UN Pavilion Expo 2012 Yeosu which will open on next Saturday.

The ceremony for the official appointment took place last March in which UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon directly delivered the certificate of appointment to Seohyun.

At the appointment ceremony Ban Ki-moon asked Seohyun to actively promote as the ambassador to bring many tourists of students and young adults to visit UN Pavilion and raise awareness of preserving the seas and oceans.

Seohyun shared, "It's my privilege to receive the certificate of appointment as the ambassador from General Ban Ki-moon whom I respect. I lend my support on spreading the importance of preserving marine environment."

Office of UN shared "We chose Seohyun who is garnering worldwide popularity in order for UN Pavilion to be promoted more widely. Seohyun gladly accepted related to the purpose of spreading the importance of preserving marine environment to be promoting as a goodwill ambassador."

Under the guidance of General Ban Ki-moon, UN Pavilion at Yeosu Expo will show the importance of healthy, safe and sustainable oceans with theme of "The Living Ocean and Coast’ and the participation of 24 organizations in UN.
