‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Plot Spoilers: Black Widow Given Central Role! Will Natasha Romanoff Have Her Own Solo Movie To Beat ‘Wonder Woman?’

The clamor for girl power is increasing for super hero movies. Marvel wants to one-up DC by releasing a Black Widow movie while Warner is still undecided with a Wonder Woman movie. Will the risk pay off?

Since the super-hero genre was revived since "Batman Begins" (not Iron Man), all the solo movies based from comic books have been headlined by white males-Batman, Iron Man, Spider Man, Green Lantern, Wolverine, Thor, Superman, Captain America. Will Black Widow break the trend, or Wonder Woman?

Marvel is determined to get a head start, at least in developing the character through the Avengers and also Captain America.

Kevin Feige, President of production at Marvel, talked to Total Film: "We start filming the next 'Avengers' film at the end of March. [Black] Widow's part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her film would be great, and we have some development work with that."

Feige continues, elaborating the vision of Marvel beyond the Avengers: "We wanted to change the dynamic of the cinematic universe with this film. We wanted Cap and really the entire cinematic universe to be very different at the end of 'Winter Soldier' than it is at the beginning. Therefore, when we meet the Avengers at the top of 'Age of Ultron,' it's a very different landscape than we left them at the end of the first film. Partially that's because we love the rhythm that the comic books have developed. Each of the characters appear in their runs, occasionally they get together for a big event or crossover series, they part again, and then they come back together again."

The speculation of what constitutes those 'changes' have begun. Screenrant chimes in: "Judging from the ominous tone coming from The Winter Soldier's teasers and trailers, it would be a good guess that one of these changes will be the Avengers' relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. Even in previews, the tension between Cap and Nick Fury is palpable." Also, Black Widow is first and foremost, a spy. As Chris Evans reminds us: "Black Widow's whole arc [in The Winter Soldier] is coming to terms with her history - that she's been a spy, and spies aren't necessarily trustworthy."

One of the major questions on everyone's mind after "Iron Man 3" was 'Where was SHIELD?' One of their most important allies is being attacked by an international super powered terrorist group and SHIELD fails to help someone who risked his life for their mission. The presence of HYDRA in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and presumably in "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" could mean that SHIELD may have been abolished, disbanded or discontinued.

Filming has barely begun, and we will continue to gather and present clues whenever possible. The finished product will be out on May 1, 2015.
