Editor's Pick: We Dare You To Listen To BtoB's 'Beep Beep' And Not Get The Hook Stuck In Your Head [VIDEO]

For once, the A&R reps responsible for selecting the title track of BtoB's "Beep Beep" EP, released on Monday, as the lead-off single, got it right.

Though most of the material on the "Beep Beep" EP sounds more like contemporary pop than hip-hop, the latter genre gives BtoB a chance to shine.

And though there is considerably more singing than rapping on "Beep Beep," the rap sections are what give the song its punch and the entire song has the deep bass drum punch of a classic hip-hop fueled R&B track.

That's not to downplay BtoB's singing.

The hook of "ddui ddui bbang bbang," which the band says are their take on car noises, are delivered with passion and though those lyrics are clearly tongue-in-cheek there isn't any clowning around or showing off.

In a South Korean music scene cluttered with boy bands, the members of BtoB rock the mic like they have something to prove on "Beep Beep."

Not surprisingly, behind the helm is K-pop's most innovative and consistent producer, Brave Brothers.

Right from the opening seconds of the song, Brothers's groove hooks you in, with an edge reminiscent of Ice-T's 1980s seminal gangsta rap recordings

The use of car horns as a sort of out-of-tune horn section in "Beep Beep," although kind of silly, is used to great effect by a producer with such great ears.

And though the song's prerequisite heartfelt, soaring breakdown falls a bit flat, there are very few other low points.

Another innovative aspect of "Beep Beep" is simply the tempo itself. It's not every producer has the courage to make what is essentially a high-energy dance tune at such a slow tempo.

But I'm pretty sure everyone will be dancing too hard to notice.
