CL Claims She Helped Compose 3 Songs For The New 2NE1 Album 'Crush' Out Of Boredom

2NE1 frontwoman CL is quite matter-of-fact about where she got the motivation to compose three songs for her band's new album "Crush"--she was bored.

In an interview published Friday by the band's record label YG Entertainment, the 2NE1 vocalist revealed the story behind her songwriting with trademark humility.

"Those three songs were actually not created for the new album," CL explained.

"I never imagined that 2NE1 would perform these songs. When I'm bored, I get inspired."

The leader of 2NE1 composed the lyrics and co-wrote he music for the songs "If I Were You," "Baby I Miss You" and the title track off of "Crush." She also co-wrote the lyrics for the song "MTBD" with YG producer-in-residence Teddy.

CL recalled the marathon writing session that spawned the lyrics for the three songs.

"One day, I was at home and suddenly, I wanted to tell lots of stories," she said. "I wrote the songs speaking personally, from the heart."

But though the 22-year-old pop star was born in South Korea, CL claims writing lyrics in her native tongue was strange for her.

"I never imagined I could write lyrics in Korean," she said. "First, I begin by recording an English demo."

Becoming a songwriter might be a new thing for CL, but she is looking forward to seeing where it might take her, though a bit tenuous at the same time.

"It has been only a few months since I began writing songs and now I have been offered this great opportunity [to have three songs featured on the new 2NE1 album], in a very short period of time," she said.

"I'm really grateful and I look forward to the result. But, at the same time, I'm nervous too."
