Jennifer Lopez To Star in NBC’s `Shades of Blue’; Jenny From the Block to Walk a New Beat on Police Drama

Jennifer Lopez, the same girl who danced on "In Living Color" is coming back to TV. Jenny from the block will walk the beat on a new cop show on NBC.  JLo is fully in control of the series, besides starring in the drama, she is also the executive producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lopez is set to return to the small screen as the star in a new NBC detective series, "Shades of Blue."

NBC picked up 13 episodes of Jennifer Lopez's new show. "Shades of Blue" is set to premiere in the 2015-2016 season.

Jennifer Lopez will star as an undercover FBI detective who works for the anti-corruption task force. JLo's character Harlee McCord is also a mother. When her cover is blown, the other cops have to help  her raise her daughter.

The New York Daily News reported that the last time Lopez was on TV was in a 1994 series called "Second Chances."

NBC president Jennifer Salke said in a statement, "Whether it's producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we're delighted to be in business with her. We're especially excited that Jennifer is returning to her acting roots from such great movies as 'Out of Sight' and we know that she will create this complicated character in a vivid way that will breathe new life into the cop show genre."

"Shades of Blue" will be co-produced by Ryan Seacrest. This will be Ryan Seacrest's first scripted scripted drama series project. Adi Hasak, who wrote "From Paris with Love" with John Travolta and Kevin Costner's recent thriller "3 Days to Kill." signed on to write the series.

Jennifer Lopez played Fly Girl for two years on "In Living Colour" and was most recently seen in a 2010 episode of "How I Met Your Mother."
