Amanda Bynes Not Going to Jail For DUI; Bynes Given Another Probation; Amanda Bynes Twitter Stays Silent

Amanda Bynes was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to attend a three month long alcohol education course. Amanda Bynes scored a plea deal in her DUI case. Amanda Bynes is already on probation in California for driving with a suspended license. The "She's The Man" star was also accused of throwing a glass bong out her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.

Amanda Bynes was convicted Monday of reckless driving in April 2012 when she crashed into an L.A. County sheriff's deputy's cruiser. District attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison says Bynes entered the plea Monday through her lawyer

Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes was released from in-patient psychiatric treatment in November. Amanda, a former child star, was formally diagnosed with schizophrenia after months of disturbing behavior.

According to LA Now, Bynes will serve three years of probation and attend three months of alcohol-education classes in exchange for her "wet reckless" plea.

According to reports "wet reckless" is  the lowest charge prosecutors can seek in a DUI case. Bynes did not appear in court on Monday. Amanda Bynes' lawyer attorney entered the plea on her behalf.


A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office told people magazine that Amanda Bynes pleaded no contest in her DUI case yesterday. This comes less than a week after Bynes' lawyer told the magazine that she is "doing great" since completing inpatient treatment in December.


The DUI case stems from Amanda Bynes' arrest on Apr. 6, 2012. Bynes crashed her BMW into the back of a police cruiser in West Hollywood. The the 27-year-old former star of "The Amanda Show" caused minor paint damage to both cars. Bynes was booked for suspicion of DUI. She was released on bail later that day.
Amanda Bynes is already is on probation for driving with a suspended license. Bynes received psychiatric treatment last year after authorities said she started a fire in the driveway of a Ventura County home home in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks. Her mother was put in charge of her financial and legal affairs.
Since the accident, Bynes appeared at court hearings in wigs. Bynes has taken to Twitter in a series of bizarre postings that included asking President Barack Obama to fire the officers who arrested her.
