2NE1's 'Come Back Home' Video Explained: Label CEO Yang Hyun Suk Discusses The Clip's Dark, Sci-Fi Imagery [VIDEO]

For 2NE1 fans finding themselves a bit confused by the group's new music video for the song "Come Back Home," the CEO of their record label YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, wants to help you understand it.

In an interview on Monday with the Korean publication Star News, the day the video was released, Yang explained thinking that went into the video's vision of a dystopian future where the only pleasing escape is virtual reality.

"'Come Back Home,' which was produced on a $470,000 budget, stands out with its striking sci-fi look," said the K-pop music mogul.

"The members of 2NE1 cross from reality to the virtual world in a futuristic city created with computer graphics. The video is slightly dark, but in the latter part the divas transform into powerful warriors."

Yang singled out 2NE1 singer Dara as putting in a particularly moving performance in the "Come Back Home" video, YG Entertainment's most expensive undertaking to date.

Though the clip features contains several bleak scenes in its almost post-apocalyptic vision of the future, including a male actor crushing up pills in front of Dara, according to the YG CEO, it is in order to make a statement about the present day.

"The content could be a little difficult to understand, but keep if viewers keep in mind that happiness in the real world is the most important thing, they will understand the music video better," Yang said.

"These days when people meet they look at their phones instead of having a conversation, which shows an addiction to cell phones and games," he added.

"I think this behavior demonstrates that people like the virtual world [better than the real world]. Even at playgrounds kids play with cellphones, and this will only get worse in the future. People will become more and more enthusiastic about the virtual world, rather than than the real one."
