Why Did CNBLUE Change Their Music?

CNBLUE made a successful transformation into a 'sensibility band' backed up by 'mannerism'. There must have been a considerable amount of thought that went into this decision.

CNBLUE recently challenged themselves to create a Britpop genre song. Their song "Can't Stop" is currently topping charts in this genre. It was a risky move, and it seems like this new attempt at this genre was due to Jung Yonghwa's slump last year.

He recently revealed, "There was a point where I realized I was always tied down to the same style of song and producing songs that sounded similar, and it took a toll on me mentally. It was precisely last year, and that's when I started to think things over. I then made the decision to not force myself to stick to the same pattern, but to write a song with my emotions in the present."

He continued, "That's why CNBLUE and I looked at our image on stage and worked on a song. The result was the song 'Can't Stop'. We think this song is one that can express many things. In concerts we would often play the piano, but this is the first time we're doing so on music programs and other activities."

He added, "I want to play 'Can't Stop' at a great concert venue. Just imagining it is so nice and makes me feel proud."

This album is said to portray CNBLUE's identity and their future music from here on out, so it looks like they'll continue their activities with these beliefs.

Jung Yonghwa said, "The main reason why I do music is to make music that a lot of people can relate to, and because I can make them happy through music I create. I'm not saying 'Please acknowledge me because I make music!' More than people recognizing I make music, I want people to listen to my music and become happy, since that's what makes me happy, too."
