EXO: K-Pop Fashion Princes

EXO is all the rage these days.

In January, we saw how a "sasaeng" fan (an extreme fan who interupts the private life of a celebrity) attempted to sell EXO member D.O's underwear. This certainly left many people questioning the extent their fans will go to - with actions like these, which are simply illogical and downright puzzling.

February then marked SBS's 'Curious Story Y' that centered around a case of an EXO anti-fan whose alias Kim Yeo Shin gave a terror warning to the group.

The extent of craziness from both fans and anti-fans alike actually come together to testify to one thing - EXO's booming popularity.

Despite fierce competition from many other talented boy groups in K-Pop, EXO remains to be one of the most highly sought-after K-idols. This extends to fashion print media, where their boyish good looks and slim physiques are in high demand.

Let's take a look at fashion features EXO have participated in:

Celebrity Magazine, 2013/14

The Celebrity is a magazine collaboration between SM Entertainment and Design House. Aside from in-depth news with Korea's famed personalities and celebrities, the issues will also cover a various aspects of lifestyle, fashion, beauty, food, and travel.

EXO members Tao, Baekhyun and Sehun channeled their manly and preppy chic looks through monochromatic fashion pieces in March 2014's issue.

Ceci Magazine, June 2013

Fashion films have seen great success in recent decades, being an imperative tool for advertising in many fashion prints and brands, markedly high fashion ones like Chanel. Although the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words - films are able to bring a level of emotional depth far exceeding what pictures alone can achieve.

This previous Ceci spread on EXO, with its vintage, floral-preppy vibe was visually stunning. The short, behind-the-scenes fashion film was further able to capture the essence of these flower boys, taking an interesting twist on the whole "guy-posing-with flowers" look.

L'OFFICIEL HOMMES Magazine, 2013

A fashion magazine tailored for men brings to us the macho and chic side of EXO members in a minimalistic concept with suits and shirts.

Definitely a memorable issue, L'officiel Hommes Korea is here to remind us of EXO's manliness exuding from within all their boyish charms.

High Cut Magazine, 2013/14

EXO models yet again for one of Korea's most famous fashion magazines, High Cut. In both issues no.111 (Oct 2013) and no.121 (March 2014), the members are looking dapper in apparels from fashion label KOLON SPORT.

IVY Club Magazine, April 2014

Fashion brand Ivy Club that produces school uniform themed fashion had chosen EXO to be their ambassadors. As TVXQ's Changmin puts it so aptly, "We (TVXQ) used to be the uniform-wearing group, but now I think EXO are."

Visually and numerically, of course - EXO makes a great-looking class of students, very effectively reinventing the boring looks of school uniforms.

Since EXO's debut in 2011, the group has come to become one of the most influential and popular K-Pop acts around. Winning countless substantial awards and being touted as one of the best K-Pop groups in recent times, EXO seems to be placed up on the pedestal for their said accomplishments.

But surely there's some consolation in that one can always refer to stunning fashion spreads like these to get a healthy dose of EXO's charms.
