4Minute Steps It Up In the Music Video For 'Whatcha Doin' Today'

Girl Group 4minute has returned with yet another questioning song to follow up 'What's Your Name?' and 'Is It Poppin'?'

The music video for 'Watcha Doin' Today' was released on March 16 in Korea, and fans from all over the world have been exclaiming over the intense, slightly bizarre music video. However, the meaning behind the song explains what exactly the girls of 4minute are saying.

4minute is all over the place in the video, ranging from sultry sexy goddesses that sing in the bathroom to wearing metallic outfits and playing with sparklers. There's a lot of sequins, flowers, vinyl, but the girls are able to pull off the various looks and make them look like these are outfits that anybody can wear on an ordinary day.

The video involves the members getting their make up done in one scene and then make-out session between two men in another. Although there's no obvious plot, the bright scenes have the same upbeat and sexy feel that many other 4minute songs have had.

Some parts of the music video are particularly interesting, particularly the scene with member Jiyoon on the toilet and the scene with Jihyun smacking a woman on her butt. The shock value is, of course, going to gain a lot of attention, but 4minute may be trying to follow in the footsteps of Psy and make people think about something by shocking them with extremes.

The meaning behind the song has a lot to do with some of the scenes in the music video that feature some things not usually found in K-Pop videos. The lyrics are promoting people to become more carefree and do things that our out of their comfort zone, because by doing things that make you smile instead of sitting around bored all day.

The music video's unique aspects do well to express the song's meaning, and the members take control of the different scenes and concepts, but has it done enough to become more popular than 'What's Your Name?'
