Reese Witherspoon Producing `The Outliers’ Movie With Lionsgate; Is This The Next `Hunger Games’?

Reese Witherspoon chose "The Outliers" movie as her next production. There is no word on whether she'll act in it yet. Movies are looking for the Next Big Thing in Young Adult film. The Outliers YA books haven't been published yet.

Reese Witherspoon will produce a movie adaptation from the upcoming young adult trilogy "The Outliers" with Lionsgate. The studio bought the feature film rights to Kimberly McCreight's upcoming novel trilogy "The Outliers."

Witherspoon and Lionsgate are both hoping "The Outliers" will have as much impact as their other YA franchise, "The Hunger Games."

The Outliers tells the story of a young woman's friend disappears but comes back with a group called the Outliers, who say they can harness the power of human intuition. Things don't work out as they seem and the woman has to take it on the lam. Running for her life.

According to Variety, Reese Wither spoon is teaming with Lionsgate to Kimberly McCreight's upcoming fantasy trilogy on the proven track record of franchises like the Harry Potter or Twilight series. After "The Hunger Games," the world is hungry for the "Next Big Thing."  The studio quickly snatched up the rights to Kimberly McCreight's "The Outliers," and Reese Witherspoon jumped in headlong to bring it to celluloid.

The first of "The Outliers" trilogy will arrive in 2015

Reese Witherspoon will next be seen onscreen in the films "Devil's Knot," "The Good Lie" and
"Inherent Vice." Witherspoon also produces "Gone Girl."

Witherspoon is not currently attached to appear in The Outliers. She will produce the film alongside Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman and Bruna Papandrea. But if a good enough script comes along, we hope Witherspoon takes a plum part.
