According to cable channel Mnet, "Trot X" will be airing its first episode on the 21st, and they stated adamantly, "It's not an audition program, but a comprehensive variety show."

On March 17th an Mnet rep answered the above when asked, "Isn't it an audition program?" The rep continued, "'Trot X' is a comprehensive variety show that will bring a variety of fun. It contains Mnet's production capabilities and skill, since we've planned several show programs."

Regarding the participant recruiting that took place earlier this year, the rep said, "While it is true that contestants will become one team with trotducers (trot + producer), and battle it out to become the winner, that's not all."

PD Kim Tae Eun stated, "'Trot X' isn't just about choosing the best trot singer. Instead, the nature of the program is closer to an entertainment program that revolves around the topic of trot. You can tell just by looking at the list of the 8 trotducers, but they're definitely all very musically talented and have shown great wit and sense in other various entertainment programs. They will be able to offer sound advice and bring fun and entertainment to the show."

The trotducers on the show will be Tae Jin Ah, Sul Woon Do, Park Myung Soo, Ivy, Park Hyun Bin, Hong Jin Young, Muzie, and Yoon Se Yoon. Producer Kwon Tae Eun will be the music director on the show. The first broadcast is slate to air on March 21st at 11PM through Mnet.
