Luke Cage Netflix Series: New Series On Netflix Include Captain America, Daredevil And Luke Cage; Terry Crews ‘Ready’ To Take The Challenge

Luke Cage Netflix Series: Disney has a lot installed for Marvel TV shows, but when it comes to utilizing its cast of superheroes, it cannot always rely on its platforms. In order to maximize its potential Disney collaborated with Netflix to do all the heavy work.

"When we looked forward, we saw there were only so many Marvel shows we could fit on those platforms," Walt Disney's CEO Bob Iger discussed during the company's announcement of its fourth quarter and 2013 fiscal results.

Disney announced the four new shows that it will bring to Netflix on the same event where the company announced its annual fiscal results. Captain America, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist will be the five new live-action series that will be streaming on Netflix on 2015.

"This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel's specialty," as stated by Marvel Entertainment's president Alan Fine. "This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what's sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure."

With relation to the Luke Cage Series, rumors go around that 'Cheeseburger Eddie' also known as Terry Crews, star from The Expendables, will be playing Luke Cage in the TV series.

In an interview with Collider, he says the door is wide open for Marvel to walk through. "I never rule anything out," he says. "I'm game. There are no rules. What's up, Marvel? I'm right here, baby. I ain't goin' nowhere. You know where I live!"

The new deal strengthens the relationship of Disney and Netflix following the agreement they made last year on making the internet streaming giant be the exclusive provider of the Video on Demand platform for live-action, first-run and animated movies created by Walt Disney Studios that include Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Disneynature and Lucasfilm.

Disney's CEO explained that providers like Netflix are sensible since not all characters can star in their own movie. "Marvel has thousands of characters. It is not possible to mine them all with filmed entertainment."

"While these characters are attractive, they are not among the most popular, and they're characters that we probably were never going to make feature films about," Iger claimed. But if the characters prove popular on Netflix, "It's quite possible that they could become feature films."

Disney is reportedly preparing a new TV series based on the "Agent Carter" short film.

"Marvel's movies, such as 'Iron Man' and 'Marvel's The Avengers,' are huge favorites on our service around the world. Like Disney, Marvel is a known and loved brand that travels," according Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos. "With 'House of Cards' and our other original series, we have pioneered new approaches to storytelling and to global distribution and we're thrilled to be working with Disney and Marvel to take our brand of television to new levels with a creative project of this magnitude."

Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is currently being aired on ABC, placed in the same world as the "Avengers" movie.
