Why Do ‘Infinite Challenge’ Members Choose To Go With Individual Agencies?

Major agency companies are scrambling about to recruit TV broadcaster Yoo Jae Suk. As such, the light is also being shed on the other 'Infinite Challenge' members' agencies.

All of 'Infinite Challenge' members Yoo Jae Suk, Park Myung Soo, Jung Joon Ha, Jung Hyung Don, Noh Hong Chul, and Gil are part of one person agencies (with the exception of HaHa). HaHa is part of his manager's agency Kwan Entertainment, but he's actually the main artist of the agency. Gil, after his contract with Jungle Entertainment expired, set up Leessang Company with his fellow Leessang member Gary.

So why did they choose these types of agencies? Several broadcast officials say it's because these artists have the ability to appear on broadcast television without the help of agencies. One rep who's kept an eye on "Infinite Challenge" members for a while now said, "The biggest reason why they need managers are to schedule broadcast activities or events, but 'Infinite Challenge' members are all at the top. They don't need agencies to have broadcast activities."

In the same of large companies, sometimes they'll make deals with broadcasting companies to include rookie actors. However, with "Infinite Challenge" members and their own individual 'agencies', the celebrities and broadcasting companies directly discuss contracts and appearances, so they don't have to deal with these 'tie-in' controversies. Also, they don't have to attend miscellaneous events that the company might hold.

Not only that, celebrities can pursue whatever extracurricular activities they want. For TV personality Park Myung Soo, he writes songs on his off-time and does DJing. One rep stated, "If Park Myung Soo was part of a big agency, then he would have a lot of limitations for his music activities."

In some cases where celebrities are part of big companies, if the company is caught for committing illegal acts, then the celebrity gets the finger as well, regardless of their own act or will in the matter. Yoo Jae Suk and Noh Hong Chul's previous agency was charged for embezzlement, and lost their merit, also causing a loss for company shareholders. There was a controversy because that company took out a loan in Yoo Jae Suk, Shin Dong Yup, and Kang Ho Dong's name and didn't repay it. Upon investigation it was discovered that these celebrities weren't at fault, but their images were already tainted. That's why celebrities have to be more cautious when they're at the top because of these possibilities.
