The Many Faces Of Gain: Sex Icon & Talented Entertainer

While idol groups will change concepts for every comeback, many idols have certain roles that they are well known for. Brown Eyed Girls' member Son Gain is known most prominently for her sexiness and was featured in Psy's follow up track to "Gangnam Style", "Gentleman", as a purely sexual woman. However, with the release of her latest song "A Tempo", fans are seeing yet another side to the multifaceted woman.

"A Tempo" represents a more innocent side to Gain that many fans are unfamiliar with. The composer Gorilla says in the music video that he wanted to introduce this softer side to the audience, because he thinks that nobody's seen an innocent side of Gain. However, the singer herself claims that she's still innocent.

Even though Gain has some innocence to her, one of her more recent songs ,"Fxxk U", was very much the opposite of innocence and instead depicted Gain as a woman involved in a very sexy, yet abusive relationship. "Fxxk U" was released along with "Truth or Dare", where Gain approached rumors about herself, and tried to discuss what's true versus fiction.

Since Brown Eyed Girls and Gain are older and have a more mature fanbase than many idol groups, Gain is able to explore more diverse concepts for her solo songs, while still maintaining her general sexy concept.

"A Tempo", however, isn't necessarily off the mark for Gain- she's trying something new, by raising awareness to a situation. In "Fxxk U" and "Truth or Dare", Gain raised awareness to harmful relationships and rumors, and in "A Tempo", she is trying to bring attention to the fact that she is not only a sexy object, but also a person who has some innocence.

In the past, Gain has also toed the line between being a sex icon and innocence, particularly in her roles as a temporary-wife to 2AM's Jo Kwon on We Got Married, and as a money-obsessed twin in the sitcom All My Love. In both shows, Gain portrayed a more playful and flirty concept than she has been matched with in the past.

But not only is Gain able to portray different aspects of herself, it is common for people to see her as merely a sexual icon. Her role in "Gentleman" cemented this, and Gain's popularity is directly related to her sexiness. But she is also a very talented singer, and "A Tempo" depicts her wide range of vocal skill, that people sometimes forget.
