Bourne Movie 5 News: It’s Going To Be A ‘Mission Impossible’ For Jason Bourne To Return; Matt Damon Signs Up For A New Sc-Fi Drama ‘The Zero Theorem’

Bourne Movie 5 news update; The spy-action film is a go but fans are still hoping that Matt Damon could reprise his role on the film, or maybe he could join Jeremy Renner (Bourne Legacy) on the 5th installment of the franchise.

Even "Bourne" producer Frank Marshall dreams of having a "Bourne" film that stars both Jeremy Renner and Matt Damon in it.

During his interview at Comic-Con for the film "Elysium" last year Damon suggested that he wants to do another "Bourne" movie saying, "Look, I've been interested in doing another one for five years. We just can't figure out the script. I'm up for it, but again it's all about the script, It's got to be a good one."

"I really want to do another one and I think Paul Greengrass does too," he claims, "But I think it's the same question we've had after each one. If we really feel we can do it and that it will deserve to live with the other three that we did. If we can make one where we go into it feeling it can be even better than those, and it ends up being in that same ballpark, then we should do it. But If we can't, then we really should leave it alone."

The first three installments of the Bourne franchise were starred by Matt Damon, which expectedly enjoyed a strong reception from the critics. However, for the fourth installment which entitled "Bourne Legacy" Damon did not reprise his role anymore, and Jeremy Renner took over. While it enjoyed a strong box office showing with $40.3 million earnings for the opening week, it did not receive good reviews from critics. Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers claims that Renner's film was "a commercial venture," adding that the movie "(didn't) feel right without Matt Damon."

And with the news about Greengrass not coming back to direct the Bourne 5 movie, it's safe to assume that Damon wouldn't be coming back to reprise his role as Jason Bourne on the film.

However, Matt Damon is set to play a part in director Terry Gilliam's new sci-fi drama 'The Zero Theorem without even reading the script.

"I called Matt and said, 'I've got a small part for you, probably four or five days, I'll send you the script.' He said, 'Don't bother, I'm in,'" Gilliam said.

Damon will be joined by Tilda Swinton and "Skyfall" actor Ben Whishaw who all jumped in without reading the script or an agreed salary.

"(Tilda and I) had met at different festivals and always said we ought to work together, Ben Whishaw, the same thing. And basically I just called them and they all just came and they worked for scale, that's how we made the film, because we didn't have the budget," Gilliam revealed.

Going back for more Bourne movie 5 news updates it has been reported that the film will hit theaters on Aug. 14, 2015. Deadline confirmed the news that Jeremy Renner would be back to reprise his role as Aaron Cross, meaning it will not follow the story of Robert Ludlum hero Jason Bourne.

Don't put your hopes down just yet, even without Greengrass and Damon on the movie Universal Studios has hired Justin Lin, famous for creating Fast & Furious a blockbuster franchise about car thieves, to take on the directing responsibilities for the Bourne movie 5.

Good news for the team, as Lin could help the movie up its notch and maybe create a better sequel that could dominate the box office just like the Fast & Furious franchise.
