K-Pop Lookback: MBLAQ

Korean idol group MBLAQ just made an exciting comeback with "Be a Man."  Take a look at how they got their start and all the accomplishments they have had in their five-year career.

2009

Solo artist Rain introduced MBLAQ in October at his concert, Legend Of Rainism. Rain had founded J.Tune Entertainment in 2007, and MBLAQ debuted under the subsidiary label J.Tune Camp. The group was made up of leader Seungho, G.O, Lee Joon, Thunder, and rapper Mir.

The group debuted formally with 'Just Blaq' on October 14.  Their debut song was 'Oh Yeah.' Thunder only joined the group fifteen days prior to debut after the original member was forced to leave due to medical reasons, so his vocals cannot be heard on 'Just Blaq.'

In December, MBLAQ promoted their follow up track, 'G.O.O.D Luv.'

MBLAQ debuted at the same time as BEAST, and the two groups were heavily compared to one another at the time of their debut.

2010

The group made their first comeback with 'Y' in May and won its first music show award on M! Countdown.

At the end of the year, J.Tune Entertainment merged with JYP Entertainment. However, MBLAQ and other J.Tune Camp acts have never been associated with JYP Entertainment and instead remain their own entity.

2011

'BLAQ Style' was released in January, with the music video for 'Cry' and 'Stay.'  The group released a repackaged album at the end of February.

In May, MBLAQ released their Japanese debut single 'Your Luv.'

G.O released his solo single 'Even In My Dreams' in July, only eight days before MBLAQ released their third mini album, 'Mona Lisa.'

The group also released 'White Forever' in December, in honor of the winter season.

2012

MBLAQ came back with '100%Ver.' on January 10. Their music video for 'This Is War' gained a lot of attention because it was the first time one of MBLAQ's MVs had a plot, and it showed graphic violence. The group also promoted 'Scribble.'

The group began to promote 'Run' when Seungho injured his back, but he recovered quickly.

Mir and G.O released 'Wild' in June, while Thunder released his solo song 'Don't Go.'

In 2012, MBLAQ appeared on the popular variety show, Hello Baby.

2013

The members primarily did solo activities for much of 2013. Lee Joon appeared in IRIS II, Mir appeared on the variety show Real Men,  Seungho competed in Dancing With The Stars 3,  Thunder acted in Nail Shop Paris, and G.O released another solo track, 'Play That Song.'

In June, MBLAQ had a comeback with 'Smoky Girl.'

2014

MBLAQ recently released the music video for 'Be A Man.'
