A male friend of Kim Hyoyeon has reportedly accused the Girls' Generation singer of physically assaulting him in the Seoul neighborhood of Seobbinggo, early Saturday morning.

According to a spokesperson for the local police department, officers from the Yongsan District station quickly dismissed the male friend's allegations since he lacked a visible injury.

"Since it was reported, we processed the charge, but because the entire case was just happenstance, we concluded [Hyoyeon was] cleared of any suspicion of assault," the Seoul police spokesperson said, according to the publication eNEWS.

The incident allegedly happened when Hyoyeon, perhaps jokingly, said she was going to throw herself from an undisclosed height at a mutual friend's home.

"I'm going to fall to the first floor," Hyoyeon's friend claims she said.

He reportedly then claims to have attempted to physically restrain Hyoyeon. In the struggle, the friend charged that she caused him to hit himself in the eye.

The incident was reported in several South Korean news outlets on Tuesday and also by the website allkpop, which added in their report that this not "an April Fools' Day stunt."

According to an official statement released by Girls' Generation's record label SM Entertainment, the singer has learned from the experience, which had nothing to do with suicidal thoughts.

"Hyoyeon was with her acquaintances when she was joking around and hit a friend when their joking around went too far, and a misunderstanding arose," the SM statement read.

"She and the other party involved immediately resolved their misunderstanding and the incident has been concluded. They were told not to play around too harshly by the police and she will be careful not to do anything that will cause misunderstanding in the future."

Even Hyoyeon's friend reportedly admitted she didn't ever mean to do him any harm.

"I reported the incident saying I got hit while we were playing around, but after I thought about it again, I don't think she hit me on purpose," he said.
