MBLAQ's Lee Joon Receives Award For Performance In ‘Rough Play’

MBLAQ's Lee Joon received the "Best New Actor" award for his role in Rough Play.

He received this award at the independent "Wild Flower Film Awards" ceremony among highly respected members of the film community.

He was nominated for two awards among nine categories, which were "Best Male Actor" and "Best New Actor". He was beat out for the "Best Male Actor", but he was able to take home the "Best New Actor" award.

Lee Joon, however, is not technically a "new" actor. He appeared in the Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin as young Rain. When he was cast as the protagonist for Rough Play, directed by Kim Ki Duk, the recipient of Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion award, many predicted Lee Joon would break out as a movie star. So far, it's been as predicted.

Rough Play is a movie about a low-grade actor who rises to top stardom overnight. His life then gets into a major turmoil, ultimately resulting in his own demise. Lee Joon was praised for his abilities to dial up various emotions for this role.

After receiving the award, Lee Joon stated, "I feel very good right now. I want to thank everyone who congratulated me. I will continue to strive to be an excellent actor."

Lee Joon will continue to perform with MBLAQ as well, who are currently performing with their mini album BROKEN. Lee Joon will act in an upcoming drama as well.
