Why Did Crayon Pop Choose Trot?

Girl group Crayon Pop resumed their music activities with "Uh-ee", which has a strong sense of trot. They were a huge hit last year with their unique concept and choreography with "Bar Bar Bar". The group decided to go with a trot genre for their follow-up song, and is once again becoming a hot issue.

"Uh-ee" is composed of a delightful melody that's reminiscent of a trot medley. The girls wear white linen clothes and red bandanas and socks. The Korean influence is especially strong with the choreography, which includes the chicken leg dance, in which the girls bend one leg and hold the ankle with both hands. They also imitate sounds that a little chick would make, adding to the fun of the song.

Crayon Pop's agency Chrome Entertainment told OSEN, "We wanted to emphasize the Korean feeling of the song. The title 'Uh-ee' is almost like our slogan, and can even pass as a greeting, which is why we chose it. We almost chose 'Yo-yo' instead."

The Crayon Pop members were delighted with this decision as well. Before their song "Uh-ee" was finished, their plans to open for pop star Lady Gaga's North American tour had been confirmed. It seems as if this issue had a considerable influence in the overall direction of the song.

An agency rep said, "The members are excited that they'll be able to showcases linen clothes, trot, and the chicken fight pose onstage, displaying Korea's color on an American stage. They ask, 'Are we really going to go onstage wearing rubber shoes?' and seem to be happy about it."

Crayon Pop will kick off their activities on April 3rd through Mnet's "Global M Countdown," and will be the opening act for Lady Gaga's tour starting in June.
