EXO's 'Overdose' Gets Leaked Online: Furious SM Entertainment Execs Vow To Take Legal Action

Executives for the K-pop record label SM Entertainment, home of the group Exo, were not pleased when the group's unreleased upcoming single "Overdose" was leaked online on Thursday.

In a statement released to eNEWS, the label lashed out at the violators of copyright law.

"The [leaked 'Overdose' video] had been filmed for the MBC program 'Music Core' and the song was not a complete version," the SM statement read.

"Currently, we are deleting everything related to the illegally spread video and looking into details of the illegal postings.

The record label executives' statement included the threat of legal action.

"SM has immediately requested an investigation and plans to go through with criminal prosecutions and claim damages from those who have illegally posted or spread the footage today," the record label's statement read.

"The illegal sharing like this is a copyright infringement and is a serious illegal act, and we will be responding strongly to all parties who committed this crime. We are leaving a warning and requesting that there be no second or third illegal postings or sharing of this video, from this point on."

Meanwhile, the planned release for Exo's "Overdose" is still planned for Tuesday, when the group will premiere the song following their much-hyped "Exo Comeback Show" at Seoul's Jamsil Arena.

Earlier on Thursday, Exo band member Chanyeol sent a message to fans on the group's website, to celebrate the anniversary of the group's debut single "Mama," on April 8, 2012.

"It's already been two years since Exo debuted," Chanyeol said.

"It feels like it was yesterday when we had our first anniversary but time has passed by so fast. We received so much overflowing love through our songs last year. 2013 was such a happy year for me. Thank you so much again and again. I miss you all so much."

The Exo singer added how excited he was for the "Exo Comeback Show" and celebrating band anniversaries for years to come.

"I'll be able to see you on stage soon," he said. "I hope we can celebrate fifth, 10th, and 20th anniversaries together too."
