EXO Too?! Album Leaked Before Official Release – Taking A Look At Other Musicians’ Accidents

Recently there have been issues with albums being leaked before their official release, and EXO was not exempt from this problem. Their song "Overdose" choreography video and music source has been released prematurely.

EXO's new mini album title song "Overdose" choreography video was posted on YouTube and other video sites. The new song and performance spread like wildfire on online communities.

SM Entertainment commented, "The video in question was filmed for MBC's 'Show! Music Core', and the song isn't the final version. We're currently looking to take legal action in investigating who illegally leaked it to the public. SM will be commissioning an investigation to find the persons responsible for publishing and circulating the data, and we are seeking compensation for damages."

SM continued, "This is a serious offense in terms of illegal copyright infringement, and we will be dealing strongly against this cybercrime. At this moment we're taking precautions so that we will not be attacked a 2nd and 3rd time."

CNBLUE's 5th mini album was scheduled for release on February when they suffered a similar situation. Their 5th album Can't Stop was scheduled for official release on February 24th, but the album was leaked on the 22nd. They requested the help of the Gangnam Police Department for the investigation, and showed intent to deal with this matter legally.

Last month A Pink's music source wasn't leaked, but their jacket photos appeared on SNS. At the time A Pink was planning to publish their 4th mini album Pink Blossom jacket covers on the same day of the album release on March 31st, but due to this unexpected instance they prematurely unveiled their photos on the 20th.

The leaked photos were seemingly leaked accidentally by an employee working on the music producing process. Their agency sought to find the culprit, and has expressed their intent to deal with the matter seriously.

T-ARA, Girl's Day, 4MINUTE's HyunA, and Brown Eyed Soul suffered the same type of album leakage before the official comeback release date.

Since these K-Pop groups are receiving such hot responses not only in Korea but overseas as well, album leakage leads to serious damage. Pre-comeback promotions and information security is very important, but it seems like the trend keeps continuing. The music industry needs to pour out their efforts into containing the situation, before this becomes the norm.
