The growing trend on music charts seem to be songs without visuals, but the important question is whether this trend will be able to continue.

In January last year hip hop dominated the music charts, and carried that trend for one year thereafter. This year there's a chance that the music industry atmosphere might completely change.

Popular singers of the 1990's and 2000's are becoming 'hot' once again, thanks to their comebacks and the increased interest in music that requires simply listening. Since not all singers of the 1990's are experiencing this same kind of popularity, this phenomenon would be more rightly attributed to the 'listening trend,' and not just because they're from the 90's.

Park Hyo Shin's "Wild Flower" was released with the most exquisite timing. In actuality it's very difficult for this song to rank number 1 on music charts, according to experts. Traditional ballads are already not very high on the list of sought after genres in the Korean music industry. Not only that, this song doesn't have a high addictive factor, so it's almost expected that it wouldn't cause a craze. However, it was met with a very unusual response, and that can be attributed to Park Hyo Shin's appealing vocals. Just when the public was focusing on attractive vocals, Park Hyo Shin made his comeback. Right voice, right time.

Lim Chang Jung also showcased stronger firepower than expected. Lee Sun Hee took full advantage of her appearance on KBS "Immortal Song" and enhanced her popularity, allowing her to take some of the top ranks.

But future prospects are pointing to a balancing out for music charts. EXO, SISTAR, BEAST, T-ARA, and 2PM, all groups with strong visuals, have impending comebacks. Not only that, they will be joined by Lee So Ra, Lena Park, and Kim Gun Mo. So it looks as if the music charts will once again feature diversity.

One music rep stated, "Vocals might be more sought after now as a response to the sexy war that took place earlier this year. It's still too early to say that music without visuals will be able to keep their place as visual groups make their comebacks, but April will be the defining moment."
