A Pink Discuss Their Dieting Woes: 'The Fans Know Right Away If We Put On A Little Weight' Eunji Claims

With fans like these, who needs a scale?

In a recent full-band interview for the Korean publication Newsen, 20-year-old A Pink singer Jung Eunji revealed just how closely the group's followers scrutinize their bodies.

"Since we're in the public eye there's a certain appearance we're expected to conform to. It motivates us to diet," Jung said.

"The fans know, too. They know right away if we put on a little weight. When we gain weight, the fans tell us to lose it and when we lose weight, they tell us to gain it again."

A Pink lead singer Yoon Bomi, 20, claimed the attention to her figure has forced her to keep a low profile.

"I get quiet when we talk about weight these days," Bomi said.

A Pink singer Park Chorong, 23, recalled that although the dieting was especially difficult for her and her bandmates shortly before A Pink debuted in 2011, it became easier as time went on.

"We got used to it," Chorong said. "The diet became a lot less harsh."

But the singer admitted that though the pressure is still on the members of A Pink from their record label LOEN Entertainment to maintain their near-perfect physiques, there is more trust in the singers to do what they need to in order to stay fit.

"Since we have to keep in shape, we feel nervous on the days we eat a lot," Chorong said. "The company used to pressure us but now we self-manage our body."

"When we first debuted, the people at the agency would tell us, 'you should feel thankful that we're forcing you to diet now. You'll want to diet later on,'" she said. "Now we understand why."
