iPad Mini 3 Release Date Still Within 2014, To Join iPad Air 2 In Q3 Launch, 12.9" iPad Pro Tipped To Arrive In Q1 2015

iPad mini 2 release date: Previously we have read reports that the next generation iPad mini Retina will be postponed this year in favor of an improved iPad Air 2. In addition, the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro has also been tipped to be announced early next year.

However, a new report says that previous rumors may pan out to be inaccurate.

According to IB Times, KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo has done it again and released a new note to investors, stating that the smaller tablet may still arrive with its iPad Air sibling sometime in Q3.

"We think the upgraded iPad Air will be launched earlier in 2014 than the iPad Air was in 2013," he wrote in the note.

Aside from the fact that this will crush previous rumors, it will also slightly change Apple's usual schedule of releases for its tablets. For the past couple of years, the Cupertino manufacturer has announced its tablets during Q4, en route to the busy holiday season.

However, that change of schedule may also be attributed to the impending announcement of the fabled iPad Pro that has a 12.9-inch display. Kuo writes that the huge iOS 8-powered slate would make an appearance in Q1 next year.

The reputable analyst also mentions in his note that the smaller iPad Retina may have undergone several design changes in order to be more appealing to consumers. IB Times reports that the Retina mini sales were way below the company's expectations.

And in order to gain the attention of its buyers, the new Retina powered iPad mini (3rd generation) is said to boast the iPhone 5s' Touch ID fingerprint sensor, a faster and more powerful A8 chipset, and an 8-megapixel camera for better quality in images and video recording.

Apple will be holding its annual WWDC event in June, and we will see if one or both these Apple slates would be announced.
