Miley Cyrus isn't known for her cover songs, but that might change now that she's built up a friendship with The Flaming Lips. Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips preview their new Beatles cover.

The Flaming Lips recruited artists including MGMT, Tame Impala and Miley Cyrus for a remake of the classic psychedelic Beatles' album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

This isn't the first time The Flaming Lips have played with Miley. The band joined Cyrus on stage for a performance on her Bangerz tour to hit up "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (Part 1)."

Now Miley Cyrus is on hand to help The Flaming Lips cover iconic Beatles album. The Flaming Lips have been getting Pink Floyd-obsessed lately, but Pink Floyd were also heavily influenced by the Beatles' psychedelic classic "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

Last month, the Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne took to Instagram to announce that the band is recording music with Miley Cyrus. Lead vocalist Wayne he posted a picture of Miley Cyrus in an Oklahoma recording studio with the caption 'If you're a Beatles and John Lennon freak you gonna love love love this track!!"

'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' will be the latest record in The Flaming Lips' project of covering classic albums in full. They covered The Stone Roses' debut album, they progged out on King Crimson's 'In The Court Of The Crimson King'. Earlier this year, The Flaming Lips previewed their Sgt. Pepper obsessions when they played "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" with John Lennon's son Sean Lennon on "The Late Show With David Letterman."

Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips told Rock Sucker "I've been doing stuff with Foxygen, they're my favourite band at the moment. We're trying to get them to do a Sgt. Pepper track, I think we're talking to MGMT, trying to get a bunch of different bands. We've done a couple of these things but I think Wayne is trying to make this one a little more high-profile, more stuff going on, more things connected. It's still in the very early stages though, so I can't say too much about it... Tame Impala - they would definitely be on the list... I'm sure Wayne will try to get Phantogram to do a track for the Beatles record."

The Flaming Lips also teamed up with Ke$ha late on last year to record a cover of "Elizabeth My Dear." But Ke$ha didn't get credit. Wayne Coyne explained, kind of, on Twitter, saying  "As of now . . . sadly there will be no Lip$ha . . . I can't say why . . . It is sad . . ."
