Tom Cruise dating Laura Prepon rumors might have forced the actress to leave "Orange is the New Black" as her role does not fit with Scientology beliefs, according to a new report.

In the critically acclaimed series, the former "That '70s Show" star plays a lesbian drug dealer who is instrumental why Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) goes to prison. After the show's premiere, Laura Prepon announced that she's bowing out of the show.

Insiders have pointed to the Tom Cruise dating Laura Prepon reports as the main reason why she quit, particularly since the homosexual nature of her character doesn't jibe with their beliefs in Scientology.

"With all [Cruise's] baggage, it doesn't help his image to be dating a woman who plays a lesbian. He doesn't want kinky, he wants wholesome," Page Six's Richard Johnson wrote, quoting an insider.

According to Hollywood Gossip, Laura Prepon will make a cameo in the second season of "Orange is the New Black" in order to tie up loose ends when it comes to her character. This was confirmed by Page Six which stated that her character will be written out after four episodes.

The Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon dating rumors started with a report by Grazia last fall which stated that the "Edge of Tomorrow" actor picked up Laura Prepon in a vintage car for a dinner date at the Manor Hotel where a bottle of 1979 Merlot was waiting for them.

"They spent three hours laughing and joking. It's clear Tom is smitten and after the date he was on cloud nine. They had their second date at the restaurant, too, meeting for Sunday brunch," the publication added.

The publicist for Tom Cruise, however, insisted that although "they see each other at some functions ... they are not dating," Us Weekly reported.
