International celebrities and netizens(coined slang for 'internet citizens') have been expressing their condolences through social networking services (SNS) over the ferry sinking disaster that occurred on the 16th.

British singer Mika, who is well known for her song "We Are Golden," posted on her Twitter on the 17th, "Watching a report on the S Korea ferry sinking. My heart goes out to all those people waiting for unaccounted relatives. Deeply sad to watch." Belgian singer Sioen and Dutch singer Wouter Hamel also delivered their condolences via Twitter.

Overseas netizens also shared their words of mourning on SNS with the tag "#PrayforSouthKorea." Thai fans posted illustrations of their own flag and the Korean flag with the words "Pray for South Korea." Some other netizens posted tribute songs and videos titled "Pray for South Korea" on YouTube. G-Dragon, Lee Min Ho, and other Hallyu stars have been delivering news of the SEWOL tragedy through Twitter and expressing their extreme grief.
