Broadcasts At A Halt For 3 Days Now And To Continue Through The Weekend

Because of the horrible sinking of the Sewol ferry in Korea on the 16th, all broadcasts have come to a halt. It's already been 3 days and it looks like it will stay that way through the weekend.

It all started with KBS, MBC, and SBS, who began the movement to cease all broadcasts to mourn for the tragedy that struck South Korea on the 16th. Cable channels tvN, Mnet, OnStyle, XTM, and comprehensive channel JTBC followed in suit. All entertainment programs and dramas have been canceled, and have been postponed to next week for now.

As of now, weekend dramas are still scheduled for their regular broadcasts, but this is very uncertain. Schedules indicated that dramas would be airing during their original times, but so far this hasn't been the case. SBS' "Three Days", MBC's "Cunning Single Lady", and KBS' "Golden Cross" have not been broadcast all week.

This weekend's entertainment programs for SBS, MBC, and KBS have all been cancelled. Instead of "We Got Married" and "Infinite Challenge" airing on the 19th, it will be taken over by newsflash programs, "Movie Orchestras", and "Featured MBC News Desk" broadcasts. On the 20th they will re-air drama "Empress Ki" and issue "Special MBC News Desk" instead of "Sunday Night" programs.

KBC cancelled "Immortal Song", "Entertainment Weekly", and "The Human Condition" that was scheduled for the 19th, as well as "1 Night 2 Days", "Superman Returns", and "Gag Concert" on the 20th. Instead they will be airing "Documentary 3 Days", special movie Love 911, Masquerade, and a special drama for the handicapped.

SBS cancelled their entertainment programs for this upcoming weekend as well. The April 19th broadcasts of "Star King", "Star Junior Show", and April 20th broadcasts of "1000 Song Challenge", "Running Man", and "Roommate" will not air. In the case of "Roommate", the show was supposed to air its first episode, but it has delayed its first broadcast to the 27th, for now. Glove will air in place of "Star King". Reruns of dramas "Three Days" and "Angel Eyes", as well as entertainment program "Healing Camp" will be broadcast instead.

On the 18th SBS, KBS, and MBC aired news all day long. All of the previously scheduled programs were cancelled, and instead they aired news specials and documentaries instead.
