K-Pop Covers: J-REYEZ And Joseph Vincent Reimagine The Lyrics Of G-Dragon And T.O.P's 'Baby Goodnight' [VIDEO]

It's not easy to take a song sung by two of the most popular K-pop stars in Korea and cover it in English. The results could either be great or extremely awkward to the listener.

But all language barriers aside, "Baby Goodnight" originally performed by Hallyu superstars G-Dragon and T.O.P of the group Big Bang, could prove to be a daunting task for any accomplished musician.

The song is smooth, sensual, and overall, an addicting number. But in their 2011 cover of "Baby Goodnight," Joseph Vincent and J-REYEZ prove they are up for the task.

J-REYEZ is a South Korean born rapper and producer, who was raised in Ontario, Canada. He cites his major influences as hip-hop legends like Tupac, Notorious B.I.G. and Rakim.

Joseph Vincent is a Filipino-American singer and guitarist, whose videos have racked up over 60 million YouTube views.

What do these two artists have in common? They both have a love for music and a knack for composing and writing excellent lyrics.

G-Dragon and TOP's original version of "Baby Goodnight" weaves a string of metaphors and sweet words to describe their girl of interest. And it's clear from the lyrics, that these guys both see the girl as someone who is already theirs.

"Don't be shy, you're already my girl," goes one line from the song.

There isn't any hesitation, this is a statement. And this is where the difference lies in Reyez and Vincent's cover.

"I can make you my own," is the way this line is written in the duo's English version.

This might seem like a small change, but it is a notable one. The song now means something quite different. The pair aren't saying with confidence that this girl is already with them, but that that she is someone they will strive to be with.

"Oh, you got me on my knees," is another line changed from the G-Dragon and T.O.P version of "Baby Goodnight."

This is a sentiment from someone who is taken with the girl in question. Just those two lines changed the song from a confident man who wants to show this girl just how he feels, to someone who is smitten and hasn't quite earned the love of the object of his affection

This alteration of thematic content that the two small lyrical changes offers, fits with the stature of the two pairs of performers.

While G-Dragon and T.O.P are two of K-pop's most recognizable faces, J-REYEZ and Joseph Vincent are more like the guys next door.

Overall, the latter duo does a great job of adding their own spin to "Baby Goodnight," while still staying true to the orginal.
