EXO-M Performs 'Overdose' Stage In China On 'Global Chinese Music'

While the Korean comeback stages of EXO have been interrupted due to the mass media period of mourning involving the tragic Sewol Ferry accident, SM Entertainment's EXO-M delivered the Overdose comeback stage in China. EXO-M enthusiastically performed on the CCTV, for the music chart program Global Chinese Music. This was the music chart performance of Overdose, the title track for the album which was scheduled to be released on April 21.

Music chart show and K-Drama cancellations for the upcoming week have yet to be announced. In addition to the cancellation of EXO's comeback stages, the group canceled their filming of ASK IN A BOX. The scripted reality program Roommates starring EXO's Chanyeol was also set to premier on April 20, but did not due to the interruption of regularly scheduled programming.

EXO-M ability to perform on Global Chinese Music calls attention to an interesting point which has risen during the current mourning period in Korea. Hallyu stars such as Kim Soo Hyun, Park Shin Hye, and Lee Min Ho were faced with the dilemma of whether or not to reschedule performances and fan meetings intended for foreign audiences during the mourning period. In the case of EXO-M, the fact that the group independently promotes throughout China, lessens any criticism that may be delivered due to their promotional activity. SM Entertainment has yet to declare an alternative release date for Overdose and has not announced the rescheduled dates for their promotional activities. Samsung Music has also announced a suspension in promotional activities for EXO's Overdose, as the sentiment amongst the citizens of Korea remains somber but hopeful for Sewol survivors.
