Entertainment Stars Respond Differently To The Sewol Ferry Tragedy - In Anger, Advice, Prayer

Stars in the entertainment industry are sharing their sorrow through their SNS.

On April 19th Lee Jung vented about the government's inabilities. He said, "Not only with this case, but in every event like this the government's rotten water and pus-like employees that are incompetent and naive fools who only seek money and fame should step down. When will you figure out what is really needed? Why! Why do these kinds of things always have to happen? Is this the only way that you will pretend to do something?" He continued, "Our small country has great talent and abilities but cannot be a developed country. You have some nerve to talk about safety frigidity," and raged about the current conditions. Afterward he deleted the controversial post. He then said, "Earlier today I was unable to conceal my frustration. I deleted the harsh post earlier, but my thoughts have not changed. I'm just disappointed in not being able to do anything about the situation." Preceding these comments, Lee Jung expressed his condolences and postponed his solo concert.

Moon Sung Keun wrote on the 20th, "It's already the 5th day but how is it that we haven't yet uncovered the reason for the sudden overturning? Especially when all the people who abandoned the children are alive." Solbi posted that say day, "Protecting lives is protecting the country, and protecting the country is protecting the people." She also posted Kim Sun Woo's poem "We Can't Find the Name of This Spring." The poem was posted to honor the students who were on the Sewol ferry.

MC Nam Hee Suk and 2PM's Chansung posted their thoughts as well. Nam Hee Suk wrote, "It doesn't have to compete with the urgent 'breaking news' that's being delivered, just deliver accurate news. The deceased names are wrong and being corrected yet again. Please don't cause the families any more pain." He also said, "The sick people that are writing false articles and posting them on SNS, those who create fake texts and publish them, the scum of the earth who do what no human being should do by leaving malicious comments, these people can absolutely not be left alone. We must catch them swiftly and disclose them."

2PM's Chansung wrote, "It's a sad and unfortunate event. My heart hasn't felt good since the accident. It's because of the accident, too, but also because of the malicious actions and the unverified facts that are circulating. I'm more heartbroken that these people going through a hard time are being disturbed. Those people who have caused more heartache, I hope that they suffer just as much as they've made others suffer." His fellow 2PM member Taecyeon posted on his SNS on the 20th, "Those that are making up lies and rumors are not even human beings."

There are also many stars that have revealed their intentions to silently pray for the families and missing persons. Song Seung Hun wrote, "I'm prayerfully watching, and I'm so heartbroken. I express my deepest condolences, and eagerly pray for the safe return of all the missing persons." Song Seung Hun then donated about one hundred thousand dollars to the Salvation Army to go towards rescue efforts. Shim Eun Kyung wrote, "I'm sorry. I can't do anything but simply pray. My heart hurts so much that I cannot do anything else. How terrified and horrible it must have been for these young children. I share my deepest condolences."

Girls' Generation's Seohyun said, "The tears that have spilled to the point of drying up. The heart that has torn into pieces is probably a pain that cannot possibly even imagine. I just hope that nothing more happens to cause more pain. I'm praying hard that a miracle would happen. I hope that everyone who sacrificed their lives through this incident will go to a better place."
