LA Clippers Owner Racist: Michael Jordan, President Obama Have Strong Opinions On Racism Issue! Pressure Mounts For NBA To Take Action!

The reactions towards LA Clippers Owner's Racist comments continue. It has reached the highest echelons of the basketball world-and even the government as an African-American President expectedly chimes in.

Michael Jordan, known as the greatest basketball player ever and now team owner of the Charlotte Bobcats has released his own statement to the press. From ESPN:  "As an owner, I'm obviously disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views.  I'm confident that Adam Silver will make a full investigation and take appropriate action quickly. As a former player, I'm completely outraged.

The statement continues: "There is no room in the NBA -- or anywhere else -- for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed. I am appalled that this type of ignorance still exists within our country and at the highest levels of our sport. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level."

Speaking of discrimination at any level, the African-American community has reached the highest office in the world. President Barack Obama who is both African-American and an NBA fan also has a reaction. While he was on a conference with the Malaysian Prime Minister in Malaysia, he was asked to give a reaction.

"I don't think I have to interpret those statements for you, they kind of speak for themselves. When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have to do anything. You just let them talk. And that's what happened here."

"Obviously, the NBA is a league that is beloved by fans all across the country," Obama said. "It's got an awful lot of African-American players. It's steeped in African-American culture. And, I suspect that the NBA is going to be deeply concerned in resolving this."

No less than the highest official of the United States has made it imperative for the NBA to take strong action and this is a baptism of fire for new Commissioner Adam Silver. An anonymous comment on ESPN pointed out: "Somewhere in the world, David Stern (commissioner of the NBA for 30 years) is sipping wine and relishing his retirement."
