Amanda Knox’s Retrial Conviction Is US State Department’s Failure?’Foxy Knoxy’ Murder Case Co-Defendant Raffaele Sollecito Justifies Villa Visit Where Meredith Kercher Died

Amanda Knox's retrial conviction could partly be blamed on the US State Department's failure to protect its own citizen, a report says, as 'Foxy Knoxy's' murder case co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito justified his visit to the villa where Meredith Kercher was murdered.

According to the site groundreport.com, the US Department was already informed that Amanda Knox was picked up for allegedly killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, on November 6, 2007.

However, by the time Amanda Knox was detained, the police in Perugia already broken "at least three Italian laws" in trying to prosecute her.

Colleen Conroy wrote for groundreport that the police questioned Amanda Knox without the presence of an attorney, they also "emotionally and physically abused" the UW student while being interrogated and lastly, they failed to record the whole proceeding.

"US officials may not have been aware of the latter two crimes at that point, but they were fully aware Amanda had been questioned without legal counsel," she added, a legal blunder that should have been utilized by the US Department of State to avoid the Amanda Knox's retrial conviction.

Even if the US State Department failed to dismiss the case on technicality, they should have seized another opportunity when the real killer, Rudy Guede, was arrested but did not name Amanda Knox as an accomplice, groundreport added.

Meanwhile, Raffaele Sollecito told Gazzetta Del Sud that he saw no problem showing his new girlfriend how he lived in Perugia where he stayed for three years.

And that includes visiting the Via della Pergola where Meredith Kercher was murdered.

"That place has no particular meaning for me, because I did not experience anything transcendental there," he said. "The night of the murder, I was not there."

Regardless of his denials, however, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the appeals court. Also, during the Amanda Knox retrial conviction, "Foxy Knoxy" received a sentence for 28 and ½ years for her role in Meredith Kercher's death.
